Speed It Up Another MSW Winner for SILVER STATE

It was another winner for SILVER STATE on Saturday night when Winchell Thoroughbreds homebred Speed It Up won a Remington Park Maiden Special Weight.

Racing just over a mile at the Oklahoma track, Speed It Up was positioned just outside the leader into the first turn. The colt raced wide down the backstretch in third as the leader put some distance between himself and the others until they hit the turn.

It was at that point that the field closed in and Speed It Up took over the lead at the top of the stretch. Another horse stuck with him throughout the stretch run, but Speed It Up was a very determined runner and battled to win by half a length at the line.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Speed It Up has hit the board all three times he’s crossed the line with all those starts coming in Maiden Special Weight company.

Speed It Up is out of the winning Tapit mare Speed On Tap, who is a full sister to the stakes winning duo of Speedometer and Nitrous with Nitrous also a multiple Grade 1 placed runner. Their dam is the multiple stakes winner and graded stakes placed Speedinthruthecity, who has produced five winners from six to race.

This was the second winner in three days for SILVER STATE, whose juvenile Itza Lock romped at Gulfstream Park on Thursday.
