SILVER STATE’s Savage State Romps in Maiden Breaking Victory

SILVER STATE registered his seventh winner on Monday when Savage State romped in a Finger Lakes Maiden Special Weight by 8 ½ lengths.

Making his third career start, the juvenile went off as the favorite in the six-furlong dirt race after showing plenty of promise in previous starts. He almost immediately proved to be a class above when setting the pace clear of all other runners.

Savage State rolled away from the field with every stride without urging from his jockey during the early and mid parts of the race. He was uncatchable in the stretch when extending his lead from four lengths heading in the final furlong to 8 ½ lengths by the time they hit the line.

Trained by co-owner Jacqueline Falk, he also races for Gold Bear Farm and also finished third last out.

Co-bred by Tuscany Bloodstock and S.F. Bloodstock, the 2-year-old is out of Grade III-placed Jungle Tale, who has five winners from eight to race. Jungle Tale is a half-sister to the stakes placed duo of Gospel Gal and Twelve Kies with the trio joined by five other winners out of the stakes winning Mary Kies.

Keeping the blacktype tradition alive, Mary Kies is one of three stakes performers out of dual stakes winner and Group 1 placed Flying Girl. That mare’s daughters have also produced champion Omar Alejandro and Grade 3-placed Flying Avie among others.

A top 10 first crop sire by winners, the Grade 1 winning SILVER STATE won or placed in eight stakes and stands for $7,500 in 2025.
