It was another winner for SILVER STATE on Saturday when Patty’s Girl showed she was ready to run on debut with a Monmouth Park Maiden Special Weight victory.
Trainer Gregory Sacco entered the filly in a 5 ½ furlong dirt sprint to kick off her career and she showed her speedy breezes in the last month weren’t a fluke when quick out of the gate. She had to duel early for the lead, but when they hit the stretch she started to build a larger advantage.
Never asked for much in the closing stages, Patty’s Girl won by 3 ¼ lengths with the runner-up 8 ¾ lengths ahead of the third placed runner.
Owned by Martin Weis, the filly was bred by St. Simon Place and Scott Stephens in Kentucky.
Patty’s Girl is out of two-time winner Curluck, who is now the dam of two winners from two to race and is a full sister to multiple Grade 3-placed Lucky Curlin. Her own dam is a full sister to stakes winner Sweet Seventeen who produced champion El Guardian.
This juvenile’s fourth dam is the four-time Grade 1 winner and champion Family Style, whose descendants include Grade 1 winner Atone.
SILVER STATE’s first juveniles include two winners and a stakes fourth place finisher with seven of his runners placing.
