SILVER STATE 2YOS Shine At OBS April Under Tack Show

It was a huge Under Tack Show for SILVER STATE’s first juveniles at the OBS Spring 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale this week, led by a colt registering the :9.4 bullet.

Offered as Hip 903, the Envision Equine offering bred in Florida by English Range Farm is out of the winning Distorted Humor mare Comic. The dam of one other foal of racing age, Comic’s dam is the stakes placed Miss Super Quick, who is also the granddam of the stakes placed Zadorsky.

This is a stacked family with the colt’s fourth dam not only a full sister to Grade 1 winner Girolamo, but also the dam of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Super Saver and granddam of Grade 1 winner Callback among the 10 stakes horses under her name on the page.

Stopping the clock just a tick off the quarter mile bullet when he breezed in :20.3 was SILVER STATE’s Hip 935.

Out of the multiple stakes winning Coy Cat, the Tom McCrocklin consignee bred by SF Bloodstock and Tuscany Bloodstock was a $140,000 yearling purchase by his consignor from Taylor Made’s Keeneland September consignment. Coy Cat is a proven producer with her seven winners including the multiple stakes placed duo of Doups Point and Newport Breeze. Another winning daughter is the dam of the multiple graded stakes placed Dream Marie.

Coy Cat isn’t the only stakes producer on the page with her dam also producing the stakes winner and Grade 2 placed Anziyan Royalty and her sister producing the stakes winning Rare Sunset.

SILVER STATE also saw one of his juveniles stop the clock in :10.0 during the third Under Tack session.

Offered as Hip 478 by Best A Luck Farm, the filly is the second foal out of multiple stakes winner Summerland. This will be the third time through the ring for the January 24-born filly bred by George Gilbert and John Penn, who was offered twice as a yearling. Her dam is out of the stakes winning Otero, a mare who produced two winners from four to race as one of two stakes producers out of Divot Doll. Divot Doll is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Kettoneup and saw her own daughter produce the stakes placed Diamonds N Spurs.

A pair of :10.1 breezers were also among SILVER STATE’s 18 offerings, with the first scheduled to go through the ring as Hip 415.

Blas Perez Stables offers the colt, who comes from a big family as son of winning Grand Slam mare Sierra Squall.

Bred by Kirk and Sarah Cahill, his dam is a full sister to the Grade 3 winner and Grade 1 placed Apriority and half-sister to Grade 2 winner Bahamian Squall and Squall City among the five stakes performers out of Midway Squall. A strong producer across all levels, the mare had 13 winners overall and saw those descending from her daughters including Grade 1 winner Collusion Illusion and Grade 1-placed Big Tiz with 11 stakes performers overall named under her daughters.

A filly named Two Pearl Penny is offered by Harris Training Center as Hip 937 after breeding in :10.1.

Bred in New York by WIndylea Farm, she is the first foal out of a half-sister to multiple Grade 3 winner and multiple Grade 1-placed and the stakes placed Nomoretanlines. Her Grade 2 winning granddam Mary Delaney produced four winners overall and sees her runners staying active with Nomoretanlines’s stakes placing coming last year and the filly already registering a race in 2025.
