Won Happy Mama added a second stakes win to her record on Friday night when the RUNHAPPY daughter won the Mamie Eisenhower S. for her second straight victory.
The 4-year-old broke well in the six-furlong dirt race and fought for the lead early before taking command after the first quarter. As the field entered the turn, she had a clear lead and was kept focused in that stage of the race to keep at least a length between her and the rest of the field.
Jockey Elvin Gonzales set her down when they turned into the stretch and Won Happy Mama got to work. She had to turn away a challenge from Hanks Girl, but that proved to be easy enough as she won by 1 ¼ lengths for trainer Travis Murphy.
Now the winner of four of 11 starts with three other top three finishes for $198,499 in earnings and a blacktype victory in the Iowa Sorority S., Won Happy Mama is also owned by Murphy alongside Matt Trent and Poindexter Thoroughbreds.
The filly was bred by Kenneth White out of multiple stakes placed Elusive Quality mare Vicarious Won.
That mare also produced Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Anarchist among her five winners. Won Happy Mama is a fourth-generation stakes performer with both her second and third dams also winning stakes with each of her first four dams producing at least one stakes performer.
Vicarious Won has a yearling filly by BLAME to come.
