It’s a quartet of in-foal mares for PRINCE OF MONACO at the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale this week with one selling on Monday and three on Tuesday.
One of those offerings is a stakes performer herself while the other three are either half-siblings to stakes winners or out of stakes winners with two of those being Grade 1 winners.
Mexican Hat kicks off PRINCE OF MONACO’s offerings as Hip 278 with St George Sales.
Not only is Mexican Hat a half-sister to the Grade 1 winning Secret Spice, she was also placed in a stakes herself as one of three winners out of Chimayo. Mexican Hat is the dam of two winners from three to race with two of those winning or placing in 2025. This is a strong family with Mexican Hat a granddaughter of the Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Chimichurri, who is the granddam of Horse of the Year Wonder Gadot and Grade 1 winner Hard Not to Love among others.
The family also includes Grade 1 winners Mashaallah, Folk Art, and Local Talent for six Grade 1 winners under her first four dams.
PRINCE OF MONACO’s first through the ring on Tuesday is Authentic Bloom, offered by Claiborne as Hip 579.
Carrying her first foal on a March 17 cover, the unraced mare is a half-sister to three-time Grade 1 winner Stopchargingmaria and the Grade 3-placed Vindictive. Her Tapit half-sister is also the dam of Grade 3 winner Scalable. This is a big family from top to bottom with their stakes winning dam Exotic Bloom one of two stakes winners and three stakes performers out of Melegant, who had another daughter produce Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed Van Beethoven.
Each of Authentic Bloom’s first seven dams have produced at least one stakes performer with six producing stakes winners.
Grade 1 winner Gomo is the dam of Hip 725 offered by Taylor Made Sales Agency on behalf of the Estate of Stuart Angus.
By Into Mischief, Gomomischief was placed on the track and is carrying her second foal on an April 24 cover. The mare is one of three placed winners from four to race out of Gomo, who is also the dam of three-time winner Genuine Golo. Gomo is a half-sister to the dam of the stakes winning Volatile Analyst with the family also including Grade 3 winners Mrs Kipling and Tony Nicconi.
The final offering in foal to PRINCE OF MONACO is Hip 952, Sign of Peace offered by Brookdale.
Carrying her first foal on a March 12 cover, Sign of Peace is a three-time winner who earned $106,919 on the track. The mare is a half-sister to the Grade 3 winner Archbishop and the dam of the stakes placed Fomo Joe from her five winning siblings. Also found on this page are champion Law Society and graded stakes winners Strike Your Colors and Legal Bid.
