A $220,000 mare led the way for the three mares sold in-foal to PRINCE OF MONACO at the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale during Tuesday’s session.
The second most expensive mare carrying a foal by a freshman stallion at the sale, she was the most expensive in that category during the second session.
Consigned by Claiborne, Authentic Bloom is a half-sister to three-time Grade 1 winner Stopchargingmaria and the Grade 3-placed Vindictive. There’s plenty of indication the mare, carrying her first foal, will be a strong producer with her Tapit half-sister the dam of Grade 3 winner Scalable.
Her siblings prove that her stakes winning dam’s production record isn’t a fluke with that mare one of two stakes winners for her own dam. Her dam Melegant also produced a stakes performer and her daughter is the dam of Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed Van Beethoven.
Each of Authentic Bloom’s first seven dams have produced at least one stakes performer with six producing stakes winners.
A $950,000 yearling himself, PRINCE OF MONACO was the fastest ever 2-year-old son of Speightstown and that stallion’s only son to win a Grade 1 at 2.
