FIRST SAMURAI’s My First Pearl returned to her winning ways on Saturday with a victory in the ATBA Sales Stakes.
The 5-year-old was last for much of the six furlong race before going five wide around the turn. It was at that point that she proved she was on a mission as she tracked down the leader.
My First Pearl had plenty of work to do with a furlong left to run with the leader two lengths in front by she handled that with aplomb. She reached the leader and pulled away to a two length win with the third placed horse nine lengths behind the winner.
Bred by Dr. John Chandler, the eight time winner races for Kevin Eikleberry and Lloyd Yother, with Kevin also training the mare. My First Pearl now has earnings of $150,000 with 13 top three finishes in 22 starts.
Her first win came in October of her 2-year-old year during her debut with My First Pearl winning at least one start a year in each of her four seasons of racing.
