Miss Call a Determined SILVER STATE Winner

It was another SILVER STATE winner on Sunday when Miss Call won at Aqueduct in her second start.

Racing over 1 1/16 miles on the New York turf, the Kenny McPeek trainee was rated early by Luis Rivera Jr. behind two runners when racing in tandem for third. Rivera let his filly continue to coast around the far turn before asking her to go right before the field straightened into the stretch.

She took full command going into the final furlong and was given a chance to show off her determination when holding off the horse she had battled for much of the race. Miss Call proved to be the better of the pair late with a head victory.

Miss Call races for Craig Macklin and came into this start after breezing a bullet at Saratoga in her last work.

The filly is the first foal out of two-time winner Lady Laura, who is a half-sister to stakes winners Important Mission and In Our Time. Their dam is a winning half-sister to Grade II winner Withgreatpleasure and stakes winner Sea Of Pleasure as one of seven winners from seven to race out of the stakes placed Doubleyourpleasure.

It’s been a huge month for SILVER STATE, who has registered six winners in the last four weeks.
