MASTERY Sends Seven Well-Bred Juveniles Through OBS June Ring

It looks to be another good sale for MASTERY this week when seven of his juveniles go through the ring after a successful Under Tack show last week at the 2021 OBS June Two-Year-Olds In Training Sale.

Leading MASTERY’s breezers was Hip 917, Master Of Arms, who stopped the clock in :10.1. That Mayberry Farm-offered colt is out of multiple stakes winner Overvalued, who is already the dam of two winners from two to race. This Brereton C. Jones-bred colt has been in high demand from the start as a $380,000 yearling purchase at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale. <Watch breeze here>

Overvalued is one of four stakes horses for her own dam, who also produced stakes winner I Spy Wolfie and Grade 3-placed Our Majesty.

A colt who breezed a flashy quarter in :21.1 is hip 802 consigned by Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables. This colt is the third foal out of the graded stakes performing Midshipman mare Stormy Regatta – whose only foal to race was a 2-year-old winner and is working towards her 3-year-old debut. Midshipman is off to a great start as a broodmare sire, boasting a Broodmare Sire AEI of 2.11. Rated crosses have produced the likes of Grade 1 winners Gift Box and Leofric. <Watch breeze here>

The great A.P. Indy and Storm Cat are represented as the 2nd and 3rd broodmares sires respectively and this immediate family has produced the likes of graded stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Utopian.

First through the ring of MASTERY’S :10.2 performers is Hip 451, another colt – this one offered by Bobby Dodd. Out of the stakes winning Jules N Rome, the Brad and Misty Grady-bred colt has 13 stakes performers named under his first three dams, including the Hong Kong graded stakes winner Morluc, who also set course records at Churchill Downs. <Watch breeze here>

Blas Perez Stables’ Hip 902 out of Hope Rules (walking video) has seen an update since the catalog was released when his half-sister by American Pharoah won in front running fashion last weekend. Bred by Ashview Farm and Colts Neck Stables, the colt’s dam is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Funny Moon and multiple stakes winner Throng. Funny Moon has provided the February-born colt another update after her daughter This Tea finished second in the Santa Maria (G2) by a nose to follow up her runner-up position in the Santa Margarita (G2). <Watch breeze here>

Out of a daughter of the great broodmare and racemare My Flag is Hip 681, a filly from Wavertree Stables. The dam of two winners, Raise The Flag was one of five winners out of her own dam. Bred by Pursuit of Success, this filly has seen updates from her own siblings over the past month and her dam’s FIRST SAMURAI half-sister Place Of Honor saw her stakes-placed son win at Churchill Downs on Friday.<Watch breeze here>

The filly’s page also includes her dam’s champion half-sister Storm Flag Flying, whose granddaughter Jouster has won three times in five starts this year with three of her starts coming in stakes company.

MASTERY’s other offerings include Hip 778, a de Meric Sales filly out of stakes winner Southern Girl. That mare is a full sister to Brooklyn Invitational (G2) winner Marconi and a half-sister to Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) and Awesome Again (G1) winner Mucho Macho Man. In all, this filly’s stakes winning granddam Ponche de Leona has produced four stakes horses.<Watch breeze here>

The sale kicks off at 10:30am ET on June 9 with sessions also taking place on the 10th and 11th. Mastery’s first Hip through the ring is Hip 314 late in Wednesday’s session with his first through the ring on Thursday Hip 451. The final day of the sale kicks off with Hip 681 for MASTERY.
