Grade 1-winning millionaire LEA (First Samurai – Greenery, by Galileo [IRE]) arrived at Claiborne Farm this morning where he will enter stud for the 2016 breeding season. Runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile-G1 on Friday, LEA will stand for $12,500 live foal stands and nurses. He will be available for inspection at the farm beginning Wednesday, November 4th.
Foaled and raised at Claiborne and a son of Claiborne stallion First Samurai, LEA raced for the farm and partner Adele Dilschneider. LEA earned $2.36 million in his 19 starts, and he won or placed in 16 races on dirt and turf – 12 Graded stakes. He won the 1 1/8-mile Donn H.-G1 in track record time, posted back-to-back wins in the Hal’s Hope S.-G3, and won the Commonwealth Turf S.-G3. In addition to the Breeders’ Cup-G1, he placed in the Stephen Foster H.-G1, Dubai World Cup-G1, Woodbine Mile-G1, etc. He’s earned triple digit Beyer Speed Figures in seven of his last eight starts, including a 114 and a 110.
