FIRST SAMURAI’S NORTHERN PASSION TAKES G3 NATALMA S.

NORTHERN PASSION, a 2-year-old daughter of FIRST SAMURAI, and a $95,000 Claiborne Sales grad out of their 2010 Keeneland September consignment, became his newest graded stakes winner with a determined win in the G3 Natalma S. at Woodbine. During the one mile turf race NORTHERN PASSION settled on the inside just off the pacesetters. Into the stretch the filly drove clear to take the victory in what was her third start. With the G3 Natalma victoryNORTHERN PASSION automatically earned a spot in the G2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf in November.

A $220,000 2-year-old, NORTHERN PASSION was a debut winner in early July before placing in the Ontario Debutante S. in August. She is the third graded stakes winner for sophomore sire FIRST SAMURAI, whose best runners include G2 winner JUSTIN PHILLIP. The filly was bred in Ontario by Mel P. Lawson.
