UPDATED: Fasig-Tipton July Kicks Off Exciting Season for CATHOLIC BOY and DEMARCHELIER (GB)

The first yearling sale of the season is an exciting continuation of the breeding stock sales for CATHOLIC BOY and DEMARCHELIER (GB) when they are represented at the July 12 Fasig-Tipton July Sale.

CATHOLIC BOY has five cataloged in the first major yearling sale of the season, starting with Hip 7 out of La Song.

Bred by Centaur Farms, the colt consigned by Greenfield Farms has two winning half siblings and another sibling who produced the stakes placed Munny Penny. A Grade 3-placed mare herself, La Song is also a half-sister to the dam of the stakes winning Dowagiac Chief. The family includes the Grade 1 winning Currency Swap and Grade 3-winning Chanteline among others.

CATHOLIC BOY’s sire More Than Ready has five graded stakes winners out of Unbridled’s Song, including three Grade 2 winners.

Hip 34 consigned by Lane’s End, agent, is a filly out of the Tapit full-sister to graded stakes winner Conquest Big E. A very prolific family, you can trace recent Derby prep contenders Soup and Sandwich and Forbidden Kingdom under her 4th dam. Perennially at the top of the Broodmare sire list, Tapit has seen his daughters produce 70 SWs.

From the family of Grade 1 winner Centre Court comes Hip 62 from Woodford Thoroughbreds. The colt is out of the stakes winning WAR FRONT granddaughter Youngest Daughter, who is a half-sister to the stakes winning Annulment from her dam’s four winners. This colt’s third dam is the Grade 2 winning A.P. Indy mare Let, who not only produced Centre Court but also the graded stakes winning Ravel with Centre Court the dam of Grade 3 winning Navratilova.

Consigned by Taylor Made Sales comes hip 77, a filly out of Confirmation Bias. Second dam is graded stakes winner Winter Garden who earned nearly a million in her career. In turn she is the dam of graded stakes performers Title Contender, Moonlit Garden, and Matterhorn. A.P. Indy-line mares crossed with sons of More Than Ready have produced stakes winners like Kentucky Oaks winner Shedaresthedevil.

In all, CATHOLIC BOY’s five cataloged offerings include three out of stakes performers –led by two stakes-winning dams – and the two who didn’t perform at the level themselves are half-sisters to multiple stakes winners. See all his Fasig-Tipton offerings here.

DEMARCHELIER (GB) is only represented by one entry in the Fasig-Tipton July Sale but that one offering is from the successful Elkstone Group breeding program.

Hip 5 is out of the multiple stakes-placed Kawfee Fa Marfa, whose 3-year-old daughter Red Wine Time broke her maiden on debut this year by 5 ¾ lengths. Kawfee Fa Marfa is out of the multiple stakes winning Idealistic Cause, whose other runners include the Grade 1 winning Interpatation and the dam of stakes-placed Prince Of Krakow.

The page also includes the stakes winning Awesome Thought and General Idea. Kawfee Fa Marfa is part of a long line of mares who have either performed in stakes or produced stakes performers going back seven generations with two mares both winning at the stakes level and producing stakes winners.

A son of sire-of-sires Dubawi (Ire) from one of the top families in the stud book, DEMARCHELIER (GB)’s first weanlings sold for up to nine-times their stud fee in 2021 with an average over four-times his stud fee.
