DEMARCHELIER (GB) Colt Impressively Sheds Maiden Tag in France

DEMARCHELIER (GB) registered his fourth winner from just 14 runners on Saturday when the White Birch Farm homebred Retouch won in France going just over one mile.

The colt was happy to settle on the rail where he split the field just a few lengths behind the leader. He let everyone else fight it out on the front end until swung to the outside as they field entered the stretch.

In just a matter of strides, he was just a length behind the leaders and drew even entering the final sixteenth. It was easy going from there for the Jean-Claude Rouget trainee, who won by 1 ¾ lengths in the end.

Retouch is the first named foal out of the Lope de Vega mare Sketches of Spain. That mare is out of a half-sister to Lope de Vega’s multiple Grade 2 winner Very Special and half-sister to European champion Chriselliam. The page also includes the Group 1 winners Eva’s Request, Opinion, and Priory Belle among others.

The only son of sire-of-sires Dubawi (Ire) standing in Kentucky, DEMARCHELIER (GB) kicked off his stallion career on a high note last month when getting his first and second winners in a span of two days.
