Claiborne Sires Put Up Impressive Results at OBS Spring

It was a huge week at the OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds for Claiborne stallions with buyers eager to take home juveniles from both proven and young Claiborne sires.

BLAME’s $700,000 colt sold in the third session bought by West Bloodstock as agent for Repole Stable was the second most expensive colt of that session and seventh of the sale.

Offered by Coastal Equine, he is a half-brother to champion Derek Adrian and Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Jalen Journey among their dam’s four winners from five to race.

Named I’lltaketheblame, the colt’s family also includes Grade 2 winner Yara and multiple stakes winner Moon Swag. Bred in Florida by Dennis Edward Foster, the colt was originally a $70,000 OBS October yearling purchase last year.

A $550,000 filly by the stallion was also the seventh most expensive among her gender at the sale and second most expensive filly of the third session when purchased by C R K Stable. Consigned by Hidden Brook, the filly out of Romantic Frolic is a half-sister to the stakes placed duo of Bode’s Maker and Road to Romance.

DEMARCHELIER (GB) only had four on offer at OBS last week but buyers were eager to get their hands on his first crop, led by Gainesway Farm buying a $230,000 filly.

Offered by Niall Brennan, who has already vocalized his belief in DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) first crop, the filly breezed a :9.4 furlong to catch the attention of everyone on the sales ground.

Bred by Leverett Miller, she is out of the winning Arch mare Treasured. That mare is a full sister to stakes winner Desert Phantom and stakes placed Mercilla. This is also the family of Grade 1 inners Blue Prize, Blue Stripe, and Knock. In all, the filly’s page includes 13 stakes winners and 19 stakes performers under her first three dams.

Treasured also had a DEMARCHELIER (GB) colt last year.
