CATHOLIC BOY’s Catholic Gal Justifies Favoritism in Debut

It was a second winner from CATHOLIC BOY’s first crop on Wednesday when Catholic Gal scored a debut victory at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

The only runner in the field making her debut, Catholic Gal raced just a few lengths behind the leader in midpack as the favorite. She worked her way closer in the 7 ½ furlong turf race to sit just behind the leader early in the stretch.

Catholic Girl earned some serious race experience when she had to go through a tight hole but the Doug O’Neill trainee handled it like a pro to not only brave the situation but also take the lead. She spent the final stage of the race pulling away to win by 1 ½ lengths under a hand ride by Declan Cannon.

Bred by Moreau Bloodstock, Catholic Gal races for Omar Aldabbagh, Jeff Ganie, Cheryl Doyle, and George Schifano.

Catholic Gal is a half-sister to the stakes placed Top Hat Charmer and two other winners out of the stakes winning Holiday Babe. This is also the family of Grade 1 winners Officer and Splendid Ann.

CATHOLIC BOY himself won the With Anticipation Stakes (G3) and Remsen Stakes (G2) as a juvenile before winning Grade 1s on both the dirt and turf at three and a Grade 2 at four.
