The first yearling on offer goes through the ring as Hip 153 from the Beau Lane Bloodstock consignment. Bred by his consignor, the colt is out of the Bernstein mare Berncredit. That mare has produced six winners from six to race, including Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Sistas Stroll and stakes winner Accredit.

Out of the stakes placed That’s A Lady, CATHOLIC BOY’s next through the ring is Hip 481 from breeder Machmer Hall. The dam of one winner from one to race, That’s a Lady is one of five stakes performers out of Competition. The family also includes Grade 1 winners Sailor’s Valentine and Coup de Fusil. That’s A Lady’s juvenile brought $335,000 as a yearling last year as well.

From the famed Serena’s Song family, Hip 752 is a three-quarter sister to Grade 2 winner Made You Look.

The filly consigned by Denali Stud is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Night and Day, who has produced two winners from four to race, a daughter of champion Serena’s Song. Serena’s Song is the dam of Group 1 winner Sophisticat, Group 2 winners Grand Reward and Harlington, and Grade 3 winner Schramsberg from the six stakes winners out of Serena’s Song.

Night And Day’s stakes winning half-sister Serena’s Tune is also the granddam of champion Honor Code and another stakes winning half-sister is the dam of WAR FRONT’s stakes winning War At Sea.

Consigned by Stuart Morris for Morgan’s Ford Farm as Hip 839, this filly out of Sun Salutation registered an update on July 11 when half-brother Alex Joon was second in the Edward P. Evans Stakes. That 5-year-old FLATTER gelding followed that up with an Allowance Optional Claiming Race on August 9.

Another of the filly’s half siblings also gave her dam three winners from three to race when she won back-to-back races at Colonial Downs on July 19 and August 1. Sun Salutation herself is a full sister to multiple graded stakes winner Redeemed.

CATHOLIC BOY’s Hip 1093 consigned by Twin Creeks Farm is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Red Rife and stakes winner Notte d’Oro among her three winning siblings from three to race. Due to her family’s success, there are only two dams listed on her page with her stakes winning dam May Night one of eight stakes winners under those two mares.

Claiborne consigns CATHOLIC BOY’s Hip 1351, a half-sister to BLAME’s Grade 3 winner Miss Kentucky, Flatter’s Grade 1-placed Pass The Champagne, and stakes-placed Los Borrachos from the seven winners out of the stakes winning Champagne Taste. Champagne Taste herself is one of six stakes performers or producers out of the multiple graded stakes winning Go Go.

Champagne Taste also has a juvenile full sister to Pass The Champagne named Time For Champagne. That filly is working regularly at Churchill Downs.

Hip 1364 is a filly consigned by Columbiana Farm out of the young Blame mare Closing Statement. Blame is already the broodmare sire of 9 stakes winners among 92 starters including the Hopeful (G1) winner Forte, as well as multiple graded stakes winners Kathleen O and Sacred (GB). Third dam of this filly is the multiple Grade 1 winner Educated Risk – a half sister to champion Inside Information.

Hip 1421 from the Taylor Made Sales consignment is a grandson of Group 1 winner Etoile Montante, who also produced multiple group winner Starformer. Starformer herself has produced multiple stakes winner Flavius and Grade 3-placed Oyster Box in addition to her own racecourse success. Hip 1421’s dam produced the winning Olympic Day from two to race with the other the placed Herington Rocket.

St George Sales’ Hip 1564 is the first foal out of a Candy Ride half-sister to champion Rushing Fall. His dam Queen Eli is also a half-sister to stakes winner Milam, stakes-placed Autumn Song, and the dam of stakes winning Empire Line. Each of Queen Eli’s first six dams are stakes producers with all but one of them also earning blacktype on the track.

From a stallion-making family comes Hip 2027, a filly out of Street Flirt. Her unraced dam is a half-sister to the dams of both Firing Line and the red-hot Sharp Azteca – who leads all first crop sires by winners, with already two stakes winners to his name. Another of her dam’s half sisters has produced multiple G1-winning millionaire Bowie’s Hero, and the highly-regarded multiple graded stakes-placed Radio Days.

Hip 2158 is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Champagne Humor and out of a full sister to Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Ruler On Ice. Consigned by Hunter Valley Farm, the filly out of Champagne Ice was a $100,000 Keeneland November purchase by Cherry Knoll Farm last year as one of the highest priced CATHOLIC BOY weanlings of the year.

Champagne Ice is also a half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Champagne d’Oro and stakes-placed Lost On Champagne. A strong stakes performing family, Champagne Ice is out of the stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Champagne Glow, who is a half-sister to champion Jurado and multiple Grade 1 winner Grand Canyon.

Out of a half-sister to the dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Country Grammer, Hip 2944 is consigned by Eaton Sales. The April-born colt is also a half-brother to the stakes-placed Reversethedecision from the three winners out of Alpha Centauri. Alpha Centauri is also a half-sister to multiple Group 2-placed Bodes Galaxy with Arabian Song producing RUNHAPPY’s stakes winner Joyful Cadence in addition to Country Grammar. The family also includes Grade 1 winner Etoile Montante – the granddam of CATHOLIC BOY’s Hip 1421 – and Grade 1 winner Obligatory.

Hip 3268 is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Red Flag and stakes winner Surrender Now. Consigned by Warrendale for Sandra Sexton and Silver Fern Farm the colt is out of a half-sister to the stakes-placed Indian Brut and a descendent of the multiple graded stakes winner Mackie, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Sea Hero. Also named on the page are Grade 1 winner Mawingo, Grade 2 winner Mr. Mellon and Grade 3 winners Seeking the Best and Mountaha.

The Keeneland September Yearling Sale kicks off on September 12 and runs through September 24. CATHOLIC BOY’S final yearling through the ring is Hip 3777 during the second-to-last session.
