BLAME’S FIRST TWO MARES CONFIRMED IN FOAL

BLAME, Eclipse Champion and winner of the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic-G1, had his first two mares confirmed in foal last week after beginning his initial season at stud at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky.

Promptly (IRE), a stakes winner and graded stakes producer, was the first mare to be confirmed in foal. She is the dam of Group 3 winner Fantastic View in England as well as Group 2-placed Weald Park. Boarded at Three Chimneys Farm, the mare is owned by London Thoroughbred Services and George Strawbridge.

In addition, Silk Briefcase was confirmed in foal. She is the dam of multiple graded stakes winner Briecat. Among Briecat’s wins are the Las Palmas H-G2 and the Bayakoa H-G2. Silk Briefcase is owned by Nancy C. Shuford and is boarded at Elm Tree Farm.

BLAME retired to stud in 2011 as a three-time Grade 1 stakes winner with earnings of $4,368,214.  In addition to the Breeders’ Cup Classic-G1, BLAME won the Whitney H-G1 and the Stephen Foster H-G1. By Claiborne stallion ARCH, he is out of Liable, a stakes-placed daughter of Seeking the Gold and from an extraordinary sire family that includes Nureyev and Sadler’s Wells.
