Making her first start in four months, multiple Graded stakes winner WATERWAY RUN put in a solid performance to finish runner-up, beaten less than two lengths, in the Florida Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf S. Racing 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Gulfstream Park, the daughter of ARCH was never far back, moved up to second after a half, and kept the pressure on the eventual winner the rest of the way to the wire. Last year, WATERWAY RUN won Belmont’s Beaugay S.-G3 and was runner-up, beaten a nose, in Tampa Bay’s Hillsborough S.-G3. At two, she won Newmarket’s Sakhee Oh So Sharp S.-G3. Bred by Dorothy A. BLINGISMYTHING, another daughter of ARCH, rallied along the rail inside the final furlong to finish runner-up, beaten just 1/2 length, in Santa Anita’s Megahertz S. at a mile on the turf. Last year, BLINGISMYTHING won two out of three starts and was just two lengths behind the winner in the Grade 3 Robert J. Frankel S., finishing seventh. She has won or placed in six of seven starts, including a debut Maiden Special Weight win at Hollywood Park, running a mile on the turf in a sharp 1:35 2/5.
