It was another debut winner for SILVER STATE on Tuesday when Floyness dominated a Parx Maiden Special Weight by 6 ¼ lengths.
Trainer Michael Pino debuted Floyness in a 5 ½ furlong dirt race and bettors trusted his placing when sending her off as the second choice. That proved to be a smart move as she immediately entered a duel for the lead out of the gate.
Pushing the leader through the early stages of the race, Floyness easily took over around the turn with jockey Mychel Sanchez barely moving on her. He showed her the whip a few times heading to the stretch before giving her a hand ride to the line.
The filly galloped home easily in the closing stage to see her lead cut down late for a 6 ¼ length win as her sire’s third winner in just over two weeks.
Racing for Smart Angle, the River Oak Farm-bred is the second foal out of five-time winner Getupbabygetup with her first winning this year. Getupbabygetup is a half-sister to the stakes winning Malpais, who is by SILVER STATE’s sire Hard Spun.
Each of Getupbabygetup’s first seven dams produced stakes performers or producers with her own stakes placed dam one of six stakes performers out of her own dam.
This was the second impressive winner in four days for SILVER STATE, who also saw Patty’s Girl win by 3 ¼ lengths at Monmouth Park on Saturday.
