ADMIRAL PERRY WINS TURF DEBUT

ADMIRAL PERRY, runner-up at Saratoga to Champion Uncle Mo in his first start, won his second straight, this time making his first start on turf and stretching out to a mile at Tampa Bay Downs. This son of FIRST SAMURAI won his previous start in a Maiden Special Weight at six furlongs on the dirt November 20 by 2 1/4 lengths.

Stalking the pace early on in third, ADMIRAL PERRY rallied between horses turning for home, took a short lead into the stretch, dueled with the challenger and finally shook clear to win by 1 1/4 lengths.

ADMIRAL PERRY is a homebred for Stuart S. Janney III and is trained by Shug McGaughey. He is out of the Gone West mare Western Humor who is a half-sister to G1 SW and sire Coronado’s Quest.
