Making his second start of the year, GET HAPPY MISTER went wire to wire in taking the one mile Northern Spur S. by 2 1/4 lengths on the Arkansas Derby undercard. Setting a moderate early pace, the 3-year-old colt by FIRST SAMURAI lengthened his lead around the far turn, opened up by 3 1/2 lengths near the top of the stretch and remained in front to the wire.
During his 2-year-old campaign, GET HAPPY MISTER went undefeated in four starts, winning three stakes, including a 9 1/4-length romp in the $100,000 Gold Rush Futurity, getting the six furlongs in a swift 1:08 3/5. Bred by Willard Burbach, owned by Tangarae Farms and trained by Kelly Von Hemel, he won his first four starts by a combined margin of over 31 lengths. Lifetime, he has won five of his six starts.
