Just over a week after seeing two of his first runners place in stakes, WAR OF WILL looks back to the sales ring when three of his colts sell at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale.
His only offering on the first day of the sale is Hip 39, the third foal out of three-time winner Full of Zip.
Consigned by Tom McCrocklin, the colt’s dam is a half-sister to stakes winners Don Dulce and Sweet Relish among her four stakes performers. The mare is also the granddam of multiple stakes winner Zestful and stakes performer Poseidon’s Way with multiple granddaughters and great-granddaughters keeping the tradition of producing stakes performers alive.
Full of Zip’s granddam is the Grade 1 winner Ms. Eloise, whose six stakes performers from eight winners include two stakes winners.
A grandson of dual Grade 1 winner Urbane sells with Mason Springs as Hip 312.
The colt’s Smart Strike dam Smart Dancer is the dam of four winners from six to race, including four-time winner Bjorn Asquifar. Urbane also produced Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Suave and stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Worldly with three of her daughters producing stakes performers.
Urbane is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed Karsavina and out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winners Another Review and No Review. Grade 1 winner Cavorting is also named on the page.
The final WAR OF WILL to sell is Hip 469, a half-brother to the multiple stakes placed Vulcan offered by Tom McCrocklin.
The colt is a son of the winning Bertrando mare Bert’s Altarcation, who has produced three winners from five to run. She is out of a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 placed Horse Greeley and to the dam of the Group 2 placed Ryker. Three of the four dams on the page has produced at least one stakes performer, led by his dual Group 1 winning fourth dam Carita Tostada.
The mare produced the stakes winning trio of Shaconage, Jadada, and Mutadda in addition to the stakes-placed Chile Chatte.
WAR OF WILL’s two stakes performers from his six starts leads all freshman sires in 2024.
