CLASSIC POINT became FLATTER’s newest Graded stakes winner after taking the $300,000 Go For Wand H.-G3 at Aqueduct. Going a mile on the main track rated good, CLASSIC POINTprompted the pace from the outset, took the lead with a furlong to go, then had to fend off a late closer to earn the win by a nose. Out of the Langfuhr mare Discerning, the Joseph V. Shields Jr. homebred was coming out a 6 1/4-length win in Belmont’s $100,000 Punkin Pie S. And last year, CLASSIC POINT was runner-up, beaten only a neck by eventual G1 SW Dance to Bristol in Saratoga’s Honorable Miss H.-G2. She now has seven wins which include scores by eight and 9 1/4 lengths going six furlongs at Belmont, and has earnings of $548,034. She was previously trained by Allen Jerkens, but was making her third start for his son Jimmy Jerkens.
