BLAME’s 1st Winner 2YO CAVAL Impressive in SA Debut

CAVAL, the first winner from Champion BLAME’s first crop, became the newest “TDN Rising Star” after an impressive debut taking a Maiden Special Weight at Santa Anita by 5 1/2 lengths. Dueling for the lead until she hit the top of the stretch, this 2-year-old filly quickly pulled away to widen the margin to the wire. They ran :22 for the quarter, :44 3/5 for the half, and CAVAL’s winning time was a dazzling :56 3/5, equaling the track record for five furlongs. Bred in Kentucky by Tada Nobutaka, out of the Storm Cat mare, Sultana, CAVAL was a $150,000 Keeneland September 2013 yearling purchase. She races for J.W. Singer Inc. and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer.
