CABANA Becomes FLATTER’s Newest Stakes Winner

CABANA won for the second time in three starts this year when she took the $100,000 Mari Hulman George S. The 4-year-old filly by FLATTER was coming out of an off-the-turf allowance score at Churchill Downs in June. Going 1 1/16 miles on sloppy sealed dirt track, a surface she’s not usually accustomed to racing on, didn’t see to bother her as she pressed the pace from the start. CABANA gained the lead after six furlongs and remained in front to the wire for a neck victory at Indiana Grand Race Course. Last year she put in back-to-back allowance wins on the turf at Arlington and also was a nearly four-length Maiden Special Weight winner on the turf in her second start at two. Bred by Russell L Reineman Stables out of the El Prado (IRE) mare Sobresaliente, CABANA is trained by Donnie K. Von Hemel for owners Wayne Sanders and Larry Hirsch.
