It was a second stakes winner of the day for BLAME on Saturday when Love The Nest won his second straight stakes in the Minnesota Sprint Championship Stakes at Canterbury.
Cutting back to six furlongs from the one-mile distance he won at in the Minnesota Derby, Love The Nest raced a few lengths off the runaway leader down the backstretch as he bided his time. That time came as they started to fade in the turn and he had the lead soon after.
In the final furlong, Love The Nest pulled away to win by 2 ¾ lengths with the third placed runner 10 ½ lengths behind him.
Owned by Lothenbach Stables and trained by Joel Berndt, Love The Nest has won five of his seven starts and never finished worse than second with three stakes wins and one stakes placing to his name.
Love The Nest is one of two stakes winners out of the multiple stakes winning Congrats and Roses, who is one of two stakes winners for her own stakes winning dam. Another of Congrats and Roses’ half-sisters is a winner in Japan who also produced the stakes-placed Cosmo Dome.
BLAME’s In a Hurry also won the All Along Stakes on Saturday to lead home a Claiborne-sired exacta over FIRST SAMURAI’s Plum Ali.
