The first crop of CATHOLIC BOY makes their way through the sales ring in Saratoga next weekend when the dual surface Grade 1 winner sees one offering cataloged on each day of the Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Yearlings Sale.
The first session next Sunday sees a colt out of Rare Edition go through the ring as Hip 391 from Vinery’s consignment. An unraced Street Sense mare, Rare Edition is the dam of the stakes winning Crawdaddy from two to race. The mare is also a half-sister to the Grade 1 winner Touch of the Blues and to the dam of champion Aegean Finale. Under this colt’s third dam is also another champion in Indian Skimmer.
CATHOLIC BOY’s sire More Than Ready has two graded stakes-placed horses from four runners out of Street Sense mares like this colt.
During the second session, CATHOLIC BOY’s filly out of Charitable Link is Hip 520 for consignor Taylor Made Sales. This is a family familiar to New York as her dam’s New York-bred half-brother is the dual Grade 1 winner and NY Bred Horse of the Year Diversify. This filly’s dam Charitable Link is the dam of one runner with that filly placed in two of her three starts.
This family also includes Grade 3 winner Lady Digby and four other stakes performers along with 14 winners. This cross is also similar to WAR FRONT’s stakes winners Sumter and Pizzazz, who are by CATHOLIC BOY’s studmate and out of mares by the freshman stallion’s sire. This filly is out of a WAR FRONT granddaughter.
The first session of the New York-Bred sale kicks off at 7:00p.m. next Sunday, August 14, with the second session at noon the following day.
