Juveniles By Claiborne Sires Impress at OBS Spring Under Tack Show

The Claiborne sires saw their juveniles register impressive breezes at the OBS Spring Sales of 2-Year-Olds In Training Under Tack Show last week. They will start going through the OBS sales ring starting on Tuesday at 10:30a.m. ET.

From a 2-year-old with the fastest quarter in OBS history to juveniles just a few ticks off the one-furlong bullet, there was plenty of buzz around the Claiborne sires in Ocala.

WAR FRONT continues to sire eye-catching runners year after year and proved this crop is no different when his daughter out of Cinnamon Spice breezed the fastest quarter of the catalog in :20.1 as Hip 276.

The Eddie Woods offering bred by International Equities Holding is the third foal out of a four-time winning Candy Ride half-sister to Grade 1 winner Violence. Her fourth dam is the Filly Triple Crown winner Sky Beauty, who is the dam of graded stakes winner Hurricane Cat and granddam of stakes winner and Group 1-placed Crowl with other descendants including champion Quasar.

ā€œWe were expecting her to be quick, but we didn’t know she was that quick,ā€ International Equities Holding’s bloodstock manager Frances Relihan joked to Thoroughbred Daily News after the Monday breeze.

It was a good week all around for WAR FRONT 2-year-olds when his colt out of Pine Needles sold for 425,000gns at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale on Tuesday.

BLAMEā€™s Hip 375 comes from a strong, active family as a half-brother to this yearā€™s UAE Two Thousand Guineas (G3) winner Azure Coast. That runner has gone two-from-three so far in his racing career. Consigned by Eddie Woods, the colt was bred by Five Rings Racing and was purchased by Woods at last yearā€™s Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

His dam Divine Rule is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Hungry Island and a full sister to Grade 3 winner Soaring Empire. The young Empire Maker mare is one of four stakes producers for her dam Flying Passage with another producing Grade 1 winner Preservationist and a third producing multiple graded stakes winner Olympiad, who is undefeated in 2022 with his latest win coming in the New Orleans Classic Stakes (G2).

Bred by Final Furlong Racing Stable in New York, the colt was a $130,000 buy by McKenzie Bloodstock at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Yearling Sale and is a half-brother to two winners from two to race.

From the Kinsman Farm breeding program comes Hip 80, a MASTERY colt consigned by de Meric Sales. The grandson of champion Xtra Heat breezed in :10.0 and looks to be another talented one for Xtra Spice, who has two winners from two to race.

Xtra Heat is also a half-sister to the graded stakes placed Bless Our Home, who produced 20-time winner and stakes-placed Bless Our Home.
