RUNHAPPY’s Runpat Breaks Maiden in Keeneland MSW

It was another winner for RUNHAPPY’s 3-year-old crop on Thursday when Kueber Racing’s Runpat broke his maiden in a Keeneland Maiden Special Weight.

The colt sprinted out of the gate in the 6 ½ furlong dirt race to take the lead and proved hard to pass. Losing his focus in the stretch he lost the lead for a few strides to a challenger but that was all he needed to get his attention back on the job and he found another gear to take command in the final sixteenth.

Jockey Florent gave him an easy race once he opened up again to win by a deceivingly small three quarters of a length for his first career victory.

Trained by Brad Cox, Runpat was purchased by his racing owner for $200,000 at the Keeneland September Sale from the consignment of co-breeder Bedouin Bloodstock, who bred him with Timber Town Stables.

Out of dual stakes winner Miss Mary Pat, Runpat is a half-brother to dual stakes winner Shore Runner, three-quarter brother to Grade 3-placed Save Rock and Roll, and half-brother to Grade 3-placed Captain Webb and stakes-placed Scatoosh.

Miss Mary Pat has a RUNHAPPY yearling filly to come as well.
