BLAME and WAR FRONT Strike Again at Keeneland September

With the success of BLAME’s fillies on the track and in the breeding shed, it was no surprise to see his six most expensive yearlings all falling in that category at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

The most expensive of that group was a $370,000 filly purchased by Chad Summers from Ashview Farm, who co-bred her with Colts Neck Stables.

The filly is a half-sister to the stakes placed St Andrews and two other winners out of Medaglia d’Oro mare Judy Legend. That mare was placed on the track and is a half-sister to three winners out of Andujar, who has made an impact on the breed both as a Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed racemare and a broodmare. Among her two stakes winners is Marion Ravenwood, who produced champion Nest, Grade 1 winner Idol, stakes winner Lost Ark, and stakes placed Dr Jack from five winners. Andujar also produced stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Abstraction.

Cheyenne Stable purchased Hip 1598 from breeder Stone Farm for $290,000.

The filly is out of the winning Stroll mare Leeway, who is a full sister to Grade 3 placed Traipsing. Their FIRST SAMURAI dam is also the dam of stakes placed Script and Dazzling Chic from five winners. Dilly was unraced herself, but is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Boston Common and Grade 3 winner and Grade 2-placed Storm Surge. This page also includes Grade 1 winner Lunar Fox, Grade 3 winner Blacksburg, and five other named stakes performers in addition to those named.

BLAME’s other yearlings proved popular when bringing $200,000, $155,000, $120,000, etc.

Another evergreen Claiborne stallion was high on buyers’ lists with William Clifton Jr. going to $350,000 for a WAR FRONT filly.

This March-born filly offered by Taylor Made and bred by WAR FRONT’s owner Joseph Allen is the first foal out of winning Empire Maker mare Nette Nette. A $950,000 yearling herself, Nette Nette is a half-brother to Canadian champion Lukes Alley and stakes winner Arrifana out of stakes winner Vaulcluse. Arrifana is also a stakes producer as the dam of the stakes placed Late Night Text.

Hailing from the family of Grade 1 winner and successful broodmare Coup de Fusil, the filly’s stakes winning fourth dam Liturgism produced Grade 3 winner Millions and two other stakes performers. Her unraced daughter Star of Paris is also the dam of Group 1 winner Elusive City and stakes winner Parisian Affair, with Star of Paris’s daughters have stakes producing talent of their own.

Nette Nette produced another WAR FRONT filly this year.

WAR FRONT saw his other yearlings bring $260,000, $250,000, $200,000, etc. throughout the five Keeneland September books.
