3YO KNOCK EM FLAT Runner-up in Northern Spur at Oaklawn

An impressive Maiden Special Weight winner here last out, KNOCK EM FLAT finished a close runner-up in the $100,000 Northern Spur S. on the undercard of the Arkansas Derby. The 3-year-old colt by FLATTER tracked the leader no more than 1 1/2 lengths back through most of this one mile test. Roused in deep stretch, KNOCK EM FLAT made a late run, grabbed the lead just shy of the wire, then just got passed on the outside, to miss by only a neck. In his 5 3/4-length maiden win on March 27, the $350,000 OBS April 2013 purchase went wire to wire to win going 1 1/16 miles over a sloppy track in a very sharp performance. Bred in Kentucky by Upson Downs Farm out of Malamado, by Broken Vow, KNOCK EM FLAT races for Sam Britt and Michael House and is trained by Donnie Von Hemel.
