It was another successful sale for MASTERY at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds In Training Sale on Monday and Tuesday when two of his juveniles sold for six figures.
Dennis O’Neill signed the ticket on MASTERY’s $135,000 filly out of Grade 2 winner Designer Legs from the Julie Davies consignment on Tuesday to top the MASTERY offerings.
Breezing in :10.2 last week, the filly was bred in Ontario by Saintsbury Farms. She is also a granddaughter of multiple stakes winner Elegant Designer, who is the dam of three winners from four to race. Designer Legs herself is the dam of one winner from one to race.
MASTERY’s first through the ring – and only Monday offering – was his second most expensive when John McCormack Bloodstock went to $130,000 to secure the daughter of Our Jenny B.
Offered by Niall Brennan Stables as agent, the January-born filly’s dam was a stakes placed runner herself. That mare has two of racing age with daughter Jara a multiple winner, who had updates after the catalog was released.
Our Jenny B’s dam is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed Ilusoria, who is the dam of two stakes horses, and to Unacloud. The dam of 10 winners, Unacloud’s runners include the Grade 1-winning duo of Overanalyze and Meadow Breeze and Grade 1-placed Majesto.
MASTERY has seen plenty of success with his juveniles in the sales ring this 2-year-old sales season with horses selling for $225,000 (also purchased by Dennis O’Neill), $200,000, $135,000, $130,000, ect.
That follows up a 2020 that saw buyers spend $510,000, $450,000, $400,000, ect. on MASTERY’s yearlings last year with his second crop selling as weanlings for $450,000, $400,000, ect.
