WAR FRONT’s PEACE AND WAR Wins Alcibiades-G1

Shipping in from England to make her four start in this “Win and You’re In” automatic berth race in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies-G1, PEACE AND WAR answered the challenge and won Keeneland’s Darley Alcibiades S.-G1 by 1/2 length. Starting from post 10 in a 12-horse field going 1 1/16 miles on the new Keeneland main dirt track, the 2-year-old filly by WAR FRONTbroke slowly and bided her time next to last for the first 1/2 mile. Ridden by Julien Leparoux,PEACE AND WAR began to pick it up on the far turn while racing four wide. As they neared the top of the stretch, she found herself in tight quarters but eventually found running room on the outside. PEACE AND WAR quickly accelerated in the final furlong and ran down the leader in the closing strides to earn the win. The $300,000 Keeneland 2013 September sales purchase won her debut on the all-weather surface at Lingfield in late May and was runner-up, beaten a 1/2 length, on the turf at Haydock in August.
