Top Blood became another winner from WAR OF WILL’s first crop on Friday with a maiden victory at Laurel Park going 1 1/16 miles on the dirt.
The colt took up a spot a few lengths off the leader early on as he raced four wide before edging closer down the backstretch. By the time the field was racing into the turn, Top Blood had the lead and it was all just a question of what he’d win by from there.
Asked for a little bit more in the stretch, Top Blood eagerly responded to win going away by 12 lengths while eased down.
Trained by Jose Corrales for Pramote Changsila, Top Blood was bred by Pope, Marc, and Pope McLean Jr. and William Schiffman in Kentucky.
The colt is out of Tapit mare Crown It, who is a half-sister to the multiple stakes placed Surprise Twist and out of Grade 2 winner My Princess Jess. This family also includes four-time Grade 1 winner Jewel Princess and Grade 1 winner Dancing Rags.
WAR OF WILL sits ninth on Thoroughbred Daily New’s Freshman sire list by winners with 18 while his six stakes performers puts him fourth in that category.
