Successful First Book For WAR OF WILL at Keeneland September

Two yearlings by WAR OF WILL were offered during the first book of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale and both proved popular with one selling on each day.

The first day saw Barry Berkelhammer sign the ticket on a $225,000 WAR OF WILL colt for Albaugh Family Stables from breeder Dixiana Farms’ consignment. The colt is a half-brother to the Grade 1 winning Tom’s d’Etat and to the dam of the stakes placed El Tizar with the trio out of multiple stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Julia Tuttle.

From the family of multiple Grade 1 winner and successful sire Candy Ride, the colt’s page also includes Grade 3 winners Candy Singer and Candy Apple with stakes winners produced by each of his three dams on the page.

On the second day, Yoshihiro Tsukada went to $175,000 to purchase a colt out of BLAME’s winning mare Spank, bred by Wedgewood Farm.

The colt is a half-brother to MASTERY’s multiple winning Spankster and out of a half-sister to the Grade 2 winner Just Jenda. That mare has produced the stakes winning duo of Jenda’s Agenda and Miss Alacrity with Jenda’s Agenda also producing the Grade 3-winning Just Cindy.

The colt’s third dam is stakes winning Fulbright Scholar, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Bachelor Beau. Fulbright Scholar produced Grade 2 winner Seeking Regina and the stakes winning duo of Tutorial and Oxford Scholar. Seeking Regina is the matriarch of a family that includes champion and Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Nyquist and Grade 1 winner Sahara Sky among others.

A classic winner who won Grade 1s on dirt and turf, WAR OF WILL has seen his first yearlings sell for up to $650,000 with the group of 16 bringing $650,000, $380,000, $375,000, etc.
