STROLL’s 2YO CRONINTHEBARBARIAN Wins Kentucky Downs Juvenile

CRONINTHEBARBARIAN won for the second consecutive time in three starts taking the $200,000 Kentucky Downs Juvenile by two lengths. The 2-year-old colt by STROLL broke tardily from the gate in this seven-furlong turf event to find himself last in a field of ten after the first quarter. CRONINTHEBARBARIAN was swung out widest of all for the 1/4-mile run to the wire and ran down the highly regarded pace setter inside the sixteenth pole to win going away. On July 20, CRONINTHEBARBARIAN was a 4 3/4-length Maiden Special Weight winner on the turf at Ellis Park. A homebred for Rick Pitino, Rick Avare, and Tom Healy’s Ol Memorial Stable, the colt out of the Tale of the Cat mare, Sweet Ober Melissa, is trained by Garry Simms.
