RUNHAPPY’s stakes-placed Runway Magic recorded a second Churchill Downs victory on Saturday night with a three-length Allowance romp under the lights.
Closing out the card in a one mile dirt race, Runway Magic was well positioned by Julien Leparoux to run in second. He kept the pressure on the leader down the backstretch before making a move for command of the race around the turn.
The gelding put his head in front just before they passed the furlong pole and from there it was all about building a margin for the Tommy Drury trainee.
Runway Magic ended the race three lengths in front with the third place runner 5 ¾ lengths behind the winner at the line.
Raced by breeders Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm and Bruce Lunsford, Runway Magic has earned $140,892 with four top three finishes in seven starts.
Runway Magic is one of two stakes performers for A.P. Indy mare Divine Escapade alongside stakes winner King of the Court. A three-quarter sister to Grade 1 winner Mi Sueno, Divine Escapade is also out of the Grade 1 winner Madcap Escapade.
The family also includes Grade 1 winner Dubai Escapade and Grade 1-placed Clyde’s Image among the 18 stakes performers named under his first four dams.
