RUNHAPPY’S Run Classic Romps to 8 ¼ Length Keeneland Victory

It was another impressive victory for RUNHAPPY’s exciting son Run Classic on Sunday at Keeneland with an 8 ¼ length romp in an Allowance Optional Claiming Race.

Racing over seven furlongs on the dirt, Run Classic raced close behind the leading Hidden Scroll while running three paths from the rail down the backstretch. Turning for home, Run Classic had the leader’s number and quickly went by without being asked and extended his margin from there.

Wrapped up by Brian Hernandez Jr, Run Classic coasted to an 8 ¼ length win for his second straight victory. The 4-year-old has three wins in five starts for just under $200,000 in earnings for owner Tom Durant and trainer Bret Calhoun.

Durant spent $475,000 buying the RUNHAPPY son as a 2-year-old at the OBS March Sale and the colt has proved that it was a smart decision while flashing his talent on the track.

He is out of the stakes-placed Pledge Pin, who is a half-sister to WAR FRONT’s stakes winner and Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint fourth Great Mills.

Pledge Pin produced a filly from the first crop of WAR OF WILL in early February. That filly is entered in next month’s Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale as Hip 486.
