Run Happy Run started RUNHAPPY’S week off right on Tuesday with an easy victory at Parx to become his sire’s ninth winner and second in five days.
Settling into midpack in the 5 ½ furlong dirt race, the colt was happy to race over five lengths off the leader. As they entered the turn, Run Happy Run went wide and passed most of the field to give himself a clear path for the stretch drive. That’s where the real running began with Run Happy Run racing down the center of the track under light urging from Angel Castillo. As he drew alongside the leader, Castillo let Run Happy Run set his own pace to win by an easy 2 ¾ lengths.
Out of the winning Pine Bluff mare Cove, Run Happy Run is trained by Michael Pino for Travin Stables.
The Kingsport Farms-bred is a half-brother to Grade 3-placed Scaramagna and two other winners from his dam’s five to race and himself has a win and a third from two runs.
Cove is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Rolling Sea and two other stakes-placed runners hailing from the family of Group 1 winner Observatory.
