New Stakes Winner and New Graded-placed 3YOs

GIOVANNI BOLDINI earned his first stakes win of the year taking the one mile Dubai Duty Free Millenium Millionaire Celebration S. at the Curragh against older horses. The 3-year-old colt by WAR FRONT waited until inside the quarter pole when he was switched out and closed to grab the lead inside the furlong marker and won by 3/4 length. Ten days prior he placed in the seven-furlong Jersey S.-G3 at Royal Ascot. Last year as a juvenile, GIOVANNI BOLDINIwon the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Star Appeal S. by 4 3/4 lengths, was runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf-G1, beaten only 1/2 length for the win, and placed in the G1 Goffs Vincent O’Brien National S. at the Curragh in his second career start. A $675,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sales grad, GIOVANNI BOLDINI is out of the Old Trieste mare, Dancing Trieste, and was bred by Charles A. Woodson Jr. He races for Mrs. Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith and is trained by Aidan O’Brien.

 

Earlier in the card, the 2-year-old colt WAR ENVOY became the newest Graded stakes horse for WAR FRONT when he placed in the six-furlong Gain Railway S.-G2. The Aidan O’Brien trainee made a successful debut taking a six-furlong test at Naas in late April and then placed in the Alfred Nobel Rochestown S., beaten only a length for the win, in his second start. Bred in Kentucky by Joseph Allen out of the French stakes-winning mare, La Conseillante, by Elusive Quality, he races for the partnership of Mrs. Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith & Joseph Allen.
