MASTERY’s Barstow Romps in Keeneland Maiden

MASTERY’s Barstow made easy work of a Keeneland maiden on Wednesday with a 5 ¼ length romp in his second start.

Making his second career start, the Rodolphe Brisset-trained colt had to weather a tough start in the seven furlong dirt race before guided to third by pilot Chris Landeros. That proved to be the perfect placement for Barstow, who swept wide in the stretch to make his run for the lead.

He had collared the leaders by the final furlong and from there bounded away for his big win with the third place horse six lengths behind him.

Bred by SF Bloodstock, the colt is co-owned by his breeder with Baccari Racing Stable.

Barstow is a three-quarter brother to multiple graded stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Paid Up Subscriber and Pocahontas Stakes (G2) fourth Blood Curdling with the trio out of stakes-placed Shriek. Shriek is also a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Stanley Park and stakes winner Turf Melody.

The undefeated MASTERY is now the sire of seven individual winners from his first crop, including three time stakes-placed Favorite.
