Iron Clash Wins for IRONICUS

IRONICUS ended Friday with a bang when Iron Clash broke his maiden by 2 ½ lengths racing over a mile after hitting the board in his three other starts this year.

The 3-year-old gelding broke best of the field to take up the lead before jockey Julio Hernandez put him under a hold to race just behind a group battling for the lead.

As they entered the middle of the far turn, Hernandez asked Iron Clash to go on and he was happy to comply. The gelding closed the gap that had opened between him and the leader and riding the rail, slipped on through to challenge. He proved to be half duck as he splashed through puddles on the track to pull away for his win.

Trained by Dimitrios Synnefias for Peter Kazamias, the New York-bred was bred by Kaz Hill Farm and is out of Arch mare Clash.

That mare is also the dam of FLATTER’s multiple stakes winner Fashion Faux Pas and three other stakes-placed runners. Her Grade 3-placed daughter Ire is also the dam of ALGORITHM’s stakes-placed Enrage with another stakes-placed daughter producing two stakes horses.

This is also the family of the great multiple graded stakes winner and broodmare Yell, who is the granddam of dual-Grade 1 winner Elate and the family of Iron Clash’s own sire IRONICUS and his studmate FLATTER.
