Gibberish Wins Treasure Chest For LEA

LEA registered his fourth stakes winner on Friday evening when Gibberish won her third straight start with a victory in the Treasure Chest Stakes. Racing for e Five Racing Thoroughbreds and trainer Saffie Joseph Jr, it was the fourth career victory in eight starts for the filly, whose earnings are approaching $150,000.

Breaking strongly, Gibberish always held a slight advantage in the one mile dirt stakes and was able to build her margin around the far turn. The 3-year-old filly opened up a few lengths in the stretch and raced determinedly to win by a length over Regal Beauty.

A $230,000 Keeneland November purchase by Mike Ryan as a weanling, Gibberish moves LEA into the top 10 Second Crop Sires by number of stakes winners with her victory.

Gibberish is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Carom and out of a Pulpit half-sister to Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Well Monied and Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Economic Model among four stakes winners out of Gibberish’s granddam Queen Of America.
