GET HAPPY MISTER Rallies to Win Santa Anita’s Grade 3 San Simeon

GET HAPPY MISTER became FIRST SAMURAI’s latest Graded stakes winner with his victory in the San Simeon S.-G3 on the downhill turf course at Santa Anita. It was his 11th win in 14 career starts, his first start since August of last year and first try on turf. The now nine-time stakes winner tracked the leaders for the first half mile after breaking from the inside post. GET HAPPY MISTER was guided to the inside at the top of the stretch and rallied along the rail to get the win by a length, earning a 100 Beyer Figure. Last year, GET HAPPY MISTER won five of six starts, four consecutive stakes that were at distances from six furlongs to 1 1/8 miles. The 5-year-old went undefeated in four starts as a 2-year-old, including three stakes, and the following year won Oaklawn’s Northern Spur S. Bred by Willard Burbach, GET HAPPY MISTER is out of the Elusive Quality mare, Sara Margaret, and races for Annette Bishop. The $384,928 earner was trained for the San Simeon by Mark Tsagalakis but is headed back to the barn of his regular trainer Kenneth Gleason.
