FLATTER’s TARIS Demolishes the Lexus Raven Run-G2

A stakes winner back in January, TARIS was making her second start off a six-month lay-off. In her first start back off the layoff, she ran a 102 Beyer winning a six-furlong allowance race by 7 3/4 lengths (in 1:08 1/5) on the all-weather surface at Presque Isle Downs on September 10. This 3-year-old filly by FLATTER faced 10 rivals, four already Graded SWs, in Keeneland’s Grade 2 Lexus Raven Run S. Breaking from post four, TARIS took the lead early and was on top by a length after the first quarter run in :22 2/5. She continued to maintain the lead getting the half in :44 4/5 and the six furlongs in 1:08 4/5. And through her stretch run the lead expanded from three lengths to nine lengths by the time she hit the wire. The final time for the seven furlongs was 1:21 1/5, a new track record on this newly installed dirt track. She was awarded a 110 Beyer Speed Figure, the highest Beyer of any 3-year-old filly in the country this year.

In her 2-year-old debut in December, TARIS was named a “TDN Rising Star” after her 11 3/4-length Maiden Special Weight win at Aqueduct. In her second start and first as a 3-year-old in January, she won Laurel’s seven-furlong Wide Country S. by 5 1/2. Bred by Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider out of the Theatrical (Ire) mare, Comedy, TARIS was a $90,000 purchase out of the 2012 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. She is trained by Todd Beattie, one of the seven partners who race TARIS in the name of Commonwealth New Era Racing and now has four wins in five starts and earnings of $275,700.
