FLATTER’s Search Results Wins Ruffian Stakes (G2)

FLATTER’s Grade 1 winnerSearch Results made her second start of the year a win on Sunday when the 4-year-old registered her fourth career stakes victory with a win in the Ruffian Stakes (G2).

The Chad Brown trainee was put in a stalking position by jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. in the one mile dirt race, sitting at Lady Rocket’s hip. The 4-year-old was happy to cruise along on the muddy track with the rest of the field over three lengths behind the pair.

Midway around the turn, Ortiz let out his reins a notch and she confronted Lady Rocket before galloping by.

Search Results was all alone in the stretch, galloping to a three length victory in her second start of the year after finishing third in her 2022 debut.

The victory was her fifth in eight career starts with Search Results winning the Acorn Stakes (G1) last summer over this same track and finishing a close second to Malathaat in the Kentucky Oaks (G1). She was a $310,000 yearling purchase by Mike Ryan for Klaravich Stables and was bred out of the Candy Ride mare Co Cola by Machmer Hall.

Search Results is one of two winners for the Grade 3-placed Co Cola by FLATTER alongside two-time winning 3-year-old Search Engine. Co Cola was carrying a FLATTER filly when selling for $600,000 to Peter Blum at the Keeneland January Sale as the highest priced broodmare offering of that sale.

She foaled that filly on March 21.
