FLATTER’s Orchestration Makes Easy Work of Saratoga MSW

Already the breeder of FLATTER’s 2021 Grade 1 winner Search Results, the Machmer Hall program saw another talented FLATTER runner from that crop win a Saratoga Maiden Special Weight on Thursday when Orchestration romped home

Racing for the same connections as Search Results, 3-year-old Orchestration was racing a furlong farther than his debut when going 1 3/16 miles on the Saratoga turf.

Race favorite Orchestration was content to race as one of the back markers under Irad Ortiz Jr. with only one horse behind him. Ortiz let his mount slowly move up through the field late in the backstretch to enter the turn in midpack. Joining a multiple horse scrum for the lead as they entered the stretch, Orchestration found his best stride in the final sixteenth.

The colt pulled away at that point to win by a widening 3 ½ lengths in his second start.

Trained by Chad Brown for Klaravich Stables, Orchestration was another successful FLATTER runner purchased by Mike Ryan. That bloodstock agent made a winning bid of $260,000 to buy him from the Select Sales consignment at the 2019 Keeneland September Sale.

Orchestration is out of stakes winning Dame Ellen, who herself is a daughter of British 1000 Guineas (G1) winner Sleepytime. That mare is also the dam of Grade 3 winners Gentleman’s Deal and Hathal and stakes winner Ry’s The Guy among five stakes performers. Sleepytime’s daughters and granddaughters have also produced eight stakes horses.

The family also includes Group 1 winners Taipan, Ali-Royal, and It’s Somewhat.
