FLATTER’s KOBE’S BACK Rallies From Last to Win Keeneland’s Grade 3 Commonwealth April 4, 2015

Making his second start back after an eighth-month lay-off, KOBE’S BACK closed through the stretch to win the $300,000 Commonwealth S.-G3 by 3/4 length. In this seven-furlong sprint on the Blue Grass S. undercard, the 4-year-old colt by FLATTER had an awkward start and found himself trailing the field after the first half. The San Vicente S.-G2 winner was widest of all down the stretch and put in an impressive rally to win in a time only a second off the track record. Bred in Kentucky by Joanne R. Mummert out of the Well Decorated mare Well, KOBE’S BACK was coming out of a close runner-up finish in Santa Anita’s Grade 2 San Carlos S. a month back.
