Executor 10th Winner for WAR OF WILL

It was a new WAR OF WILL winner at Keeneland on Friday when Executor took command early and never let go of the lead.

The Chris Block-trainee had a rough start in the 1 1/8-mile turf race but quickly went to front and led from the inside. Having to deal with a horse next to him down the backstretch, he pulled away around the turn with just one rival sticking with him.

At the top of the stretch, even that horse couldn’t do anything, and Executor easily raced to a 1 ½ length win as the race favorite.

Owned by Richard Perkins, Executor has finished in the top three in all three of his starts. The Kentucky-bred hailing from the Mesingw Farm breeding program is out of the stakes winning Financial Recovery. That mare has produced three winners from her four to race, including five-time winner Inflation Adjusted.

Financial Recovery is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Blueheart and three other stakes performers out of Flawless Diamond. That mare’s daughters have also produced stakes performers, as have her granddaughters.

WAR OF WILL is the sire of 10 winners with his runners including three stakes performers, good enough for sixth in his crop.
